Cold Calling

Cold calling is phoning a business or person you have no prior relationship with to start a sales conversation, working from a targeted list of numbers.

Cold calling is the practice of phoning a prospect you have had no prior contact with to open a sales conversation. A rep dials through a prepared list of businesses, introduces themselves, and tries to spark enough interest to qualify the prospect or book a follow-up. It is one of the oldest outbound tactics and still works when the list is well targeted.

The single biggest driver of cold-calling results is the quality of the list behind it. A rep can only be as effective as the numbers they dial: the businesses have to be the right type, in the right places, with phone numbers that actually connect to a real business. Time spent hunting for who to call next, or burning through wrong numbers, is time not spent talking to prospects. A tight list of well-fit businesses beats a long, generic one every time.

Context on each row matters too. Knowing a business’s category, Google rating, and review count helps a rep gauge fit and reputation before dialing, and business hours hint at when someone is likely to pick up. A website gives an opening line and a way to confirm what the business actually does.

With gtme.business you build a cold-calling list by searching a Google Maps business category across the locations you care about, drilling down by country, state, and city. Each search returns up to a few hundred matching listings — a focused slice, not a city-wide census — with name, address, phone, website, Google rating, review count, categories, business hours, and a Google Maps link. Export the result as a CSV on any plan, or sync it into your own Supabase database on the Pro and Business plans.

One honest note on scope: gtme.business lists are built for the phone and the web. They carry phone numbers, websites, and Google Maps links — but no email addresses or owner names, since those are not part of Google Maps data. The phone numbers come straight from Google and are unverified, so expect the usual share of disconnected or wrong numbers any directory carries.
